The Leadership Gainesville Alumni Association works toward the focused goal of improving the quality of life of our members and our community. We do this through leadership development, collaboration and active community involvement.

Meet our Board

Kevin Spellicy, LGAA President
President/Mechanical Engineer of Campbell Spellicy Engineering

Kevin Spellicy is a 16-year Alachua County Resident and UF Graduate in Mechanical Engineering. He is President and Principal Engineer at Campbell Spellicy Engineering, which is a consulting Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineering firm based in Gainesville that specializes in commercial and institutional renovation and new construction projects. Kevin is a graduate of LG44 (Go Blue) and is an active volunteer with several local non-profit organizations including serving as a Board Member for Grace Marketplace and serving on the United Way's Community Investment Council, aside from serving as the current Board President for LGAA.

Virginia MacKoul, LGAA Past President

Virginia “Ginny” is a UF graduate with over 10 years’ experience in marketing, communications, and strategies, and started her own consulting company, Impact Hive, in January of 2020. Prior to that, she played a vital role in facilitating the rapid growth of Front Street Commercial Real Estate Group before being acquired by Avison Young Global. Ginny also co-founded a professional development group, Talking Heads GNV, was named a winner of the Gainesville Sun’s 40 Under 40 Award, and the Fierce Award.  Ginny has a passion for giving back to the community, serving on various nonprofit boards and committees, and is a graduate of Leadership Gainesville Class 41 (go blue), in addition to Past Board President for LGAA.

Amanda Rutherford, LGAA President-Elect

Amanda Rutherford has lived in Gainesville since 2011. She moved here from Sarasota to study Architecture at the University of Florida, and stayed for Gainesville's authentic and charming community. As a graduate student, her interests focused on teaching, music performance, and the intersection of communities with their landscapes. She currently works at Walker Architects. Amanda's favorite hobbies include kayaking and hiking central Florida's diverse and beautiful landscapes.


Adria Deren, LGAA Treasurer
Partner at Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLC

Adria Deren is the LGAA Treasurer. She participated in LG43 in the yellow group. Adria is a partner at Carr, Riggs & Ingram, a regional CPA firm, with almost 20 years of tax experience.  She works with businesses and individuals for all of their bookkeeping and tax needs, including full-service bookkeeping, sales tax, payroll tax, tax compliance, tax consulting, and planning.  She enjoys outdoor activities with her family (husband and 2 kids) as well as crafting and reading mystery books.

Kim Buchholz, LGAA Secretary

Since relocating from Michigan to Gainesville in 2008, Kim has enjoyed serving on myriad nonprofit boards and volunteering in the community. With a background largely in nonprofit and higher education public relations and marketing, Kim directed communications and student recruitment for one of UF’s first online health sciences Master’s degree programs and served as an advisor for student government, leadership and community involvement at Santa Fe College. Today, Kim loves putting her passion for real estate and our community into serving those who know and trust her with their commercial and residential needs as a Realtor and consultant. 

Joe Lowry, Jr.
Managing Partner at Lowry Financial Advisors

Joe grew up observing the family business and at an early age appreciated the long-term relationships his father developed with his clients. While pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University (international politics, 2003), he told Joe, Sr., that he was interested in learning about the business. After graduation, he joined Joe, Sr., and became his formal partner several years later.
Joe gains his greatest enjoyment is spending time with his wife, Lacy, and three children. As a family, they enjoy traveling, being near the water, and playing games together. Joe is active in numerous community organizations and his church.

Mandy Millam
Clinical Projects Manager at Partnership for Strong Families

Mandy Millam is a second generation Floridian and graduate from The University of Florida. Mandy is a Clinical Projects Manager at Partnership for Strong Families where her focus is on diversion and prevention of children entering the child welfare system. Her passion for child welfare grew from her personal experiences in the child welfare system as a teenager.  She is a dedicated member of her local community and in her free time she's served on volunteer boards and at local non-profits.

Angela Chan
Manager of Marketing at Celebration Pointe

Angela is the Manager of Marketing at Celebration Pointe. Angela is a proud UF grad and holds a degree in Public Relations. She loves being a connector for people and looks forward to connecting with many professionals in our community. When she's not working or serving on three other boards, you can find her relaxing with a cocktail in her hand and having dinner with her best friends.

Ann Rupp Polo
Member Engagement Manager at the Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce

Anne Polo is the Member Engagement Manager at the Great Gainesville Chamber of Commerce, a graduate of LG Class 46 (GO RED!), and a dean for LG Class 47. When she is not spreading the good word on all things Chamber related, Anne can be found paddling on the Rainbow River with her husband, chasing after her 3 rabid teenagers, or talking to the ridiculous amount of houseplants she has recently accumulated.

Bill Evans
Retired
LG 10 | Blue

"Gator Bill" Evans was a longtime Marketing Consultant for the Gainesville Sinclair market (CBS4, NBC9), but his pastimes are community service and Gator sports. Bill is also a past president of LGAA and was United Way of Alachua County's (now known as United Way of North Central Florida) Volunteer of the Year in 2000.As for Gator Sports, "Gator Bill" is a two-time UF grad and used his Journalism degree to write the script for the Emmy-nominated "Gridiron Gators: 100 Years of Florida Football" in 2006. You can easily find "Gator Bill" at community events around town, as he is always wearing Gator blue and orange.
